Abby is an Emmy Award-winning documentary director. The first female Director behind the critically acclaimed series Chef’s Table, which has garnered Emmy nominations for Outstanding Documentary of Nonfiction Series and Outstanding Music composition for a Series. Her episode profiling chef Cristina Martinez is being called one of the best and highest ranking episodes of the series. Chef Martinez is an undocumented Mexican immigrant with a remarkable story and two renowned restaurants in Philadelphia. Abby’s season six episode featuring chef Mashama Bailey is a fresh and intimate story about the South and chef Bailey’s own culinary style at her restaurant, The Grey, a renovated bus station in Savannah, Georgia, that explores and honors the heritage of Southern African-American cuisine. She has also profiled chef Ana Ros of Slovenia in season two, chef Tim Raue of Germany for the series’ third season, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, and in the latest series, Chef’s Table: Pizza, Abby’s episode profiles Kyoto-based chef Yoshihiro Imai’s deep respect for nature in his pizzas, served in the multi-course style of dining known as kaiseki.

Her latest undertaking is a 3-Part Series for Hulu, Mastermind, which will premiere late Summer ’24.

In the AppleTV+ series Dear…, Abby directs the fourth episode with Oprah Winfrey as the icon discusses the pivotal turn in her career to becoming a paragon of the “live your best life” mantra.

Her award-winning feature documentary, Do You Dream in Color?, looks at the injustices in the education system for students who are blind. It screened and won awards at festivals across the nation and screened at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. In 2017, it was selected to be part of a national screening series to empower disabled teenagers presented by the National Federation of the Blind.

In 2019, The North Face launched the Move Mountains Filmmakers Grant dedicated to elevating women-led film, Abby was one of four grantees, whose short, Shepherd’s Song, premiered at the Mountainfilm Festival.

Abby got her start producing the Emmy award-winning series, True Life for MTV and since then has directed, produced, and edited documentaries for: Ron Howard/Imagine Ent., Sundance Channel, Zac Efron/MTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, Netflix, & National Geographic. In 2013, Abby was the recipient of the activist filmmaker grant at the annual NYWIFT Muse awards and in 2016 she was chosen to speak along with Jane Fonda, Chelsea Handler, Jenji Kohan and others representing the Women of Netflix.

Her commercial and branded work includes projects for Amazon Prime, Bosch, Chobani, Disney, Google, LinkedIn, Magnifique, Starbucks, and The Wounded Warrior Project.

Dedicated to showcasing the power of how regenerative farming can transform our soil, environment, and planet, Abby lives on a farm in Southern Oregon – Another Perfect Day. Abby is an activist and continues to explore how women are transforming filmmaking, farming, and food.
